Yard waste pickup complaints near 500 as season starts
The City of Winnipeg has netted almost 500 complaints about missed curbside yard waste pickups since the program started up for the season 2½ weeks ago.
The city confirmed that 311 staff have received 496 reports about missed pickups from April 28, when the 2014 curbside yard waste program started, until the end of day Wednesday.
Homes in one River Heights neighbourhood were missed on Monday, but city officials have followed up with the contractor involved and are conducting inspections to make sure everything is collected, a spokesperson told CBC News by email.
Yard waste is being collected at the curb once every two weeks, on the same collection day as recycling and garbage.
People can check their collection date by phoning 311, looking on the City of Winnipeg's website, or downloading the city's MyWaste app from the Apple and Android app stores.
Residents whose yard waste hasn't been collected as scheduled are advised to call 311.
