The driver got out of the cab near Notre Dame Avenue and Balmoral Street and the women drove off with the vehicle, leaving the driver behind.

The stolen taxi eventually crashed into a snow bank in the 200 block of Isabel Street, and police arrested the two women.

A 24-year-old woman has been charged with robbery, while a 22-year-old woman was charged with robbery, uttering threats, impaired driving and failing to comply with a probation order.

Both women are in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
