Woman's death in Elmwood deemed not suspicious

Winnipeg police have ruled out foul play in the death of a woman who was found lying outside in the city's Elmwood neighbourhood on Wednesday.

Emergency crews were called to Stadacona Street around 7:40 a.m. for reports that a woman might need help.

There, they found a 41-year-old woman in critical condition. She was rushed to hospital, where she later died.

Police initially described the woman's death as suspicious and said officers with the major crimes unit was investigating.

On Thursday, police announced her death is not suspicious. Her name was not released.
