A Winnipeg woman was killed Tuesday when a vehicle struck her in central Manitoba.
According to RCMP, the woman, 42, was standing in the northbound lane of Highway 6 near Camper when she was hit at about 7:30 p.m.
A police investigation showed the southbound vehicle that hit the woman has just passed another vehicle and was in the northbound lane.
Based on the time when the pedestrian came into view, the collision was unavoidable for the driver, RCMP said.
Neither alcohol nor speed was involved in the accident, RCMP said.
The woman was rushed to hospital in Ashern, about 14 kilometres away, where she was pronounced dead.
Her name has not been released.
