A 56-year-old woman has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the homicide of John David Goundry in Winnipeg.

Valerie Arlene Assiniboine, of Long Plain, Manitoba, was arrested Thursday.

Goundry, 51, was found dead inside his apartment suite, in the 400 block of Elgin Avenue, on April 1 but police believe he likely died a month earlier, somewhere between March 2-7.

According to police, Goundry and Assiniboine were involved in a verbal argument that escalated to a point where Assiniboine grabbed a knife and stabbed Goundry in the upper body.
