A trio of women who tried to dine and dash in a Brandon restaurant had their getaway hampered by a handbag, police said.

After racking up a bill of $141.67 in the early morning hours on Monday, the women left without paying — but one forgot her purse behind, according to Brandon police.

By the time she realized and returned to get it, officers were waiting.

A 28-year-old woman from Red Deer, Alta., was arrested and faces a charge of food by fraud, police said.

Police did not say if the other two women are facing any charges.
