There won’t be any shuffling of bones or guttural moaning on the streets of Winnipeg this October — or at least it won’t be coming from the zombie walk this year.
The organizers of Winnipeg’s 2013 zombie walk cancelled the event on Wednesday, saying rising costs and safety concerns forced them to nix the event.
The annual event typically attracts thousands of Winnipeggers who dress up like zombies and shuffle around the streets. Similar walks take place in cities across the world each October.
This year, though, the Winnipeg Zombie Walk organizers will hold a zombie-themed dance party on Oct. 12.
Organizers said the event will have “no walking, just brain eating!”
