Get out the sunscreen and shades today but have the umbrellas and rubber boots ready for the weekend — a busy one in Winnipeg.

Temperatures should hit about 23 C Friday under mostly-blue skies, which is bang-on normal for this time of year. But the clouds will start building later in the day and the rain will hit by Friday evening.

The wet weather will continue overnight and into Saturday, though it is expected to take a break during Saturday morning before storming back in for the afternoon and evening.

The high for the day won't likely be much better than 19 C.

Sunday also look soggy with periods of rain or just plain cloudy with a high of 17 C.

That forecast will put a damper on the Red River Ex and Winnipeg International Jazz Festival, both of which run Friday through Sunday, as well as Sunday's Manitoba Marathon.
