Winnipeg's new cadet bike patrol spun its wheels for the cameras Friday.

The Winnipeg Police Service said the bike patrol, part of the Auxiliary Force Cadets, is comprised of 16 cadets who have undergone specialized training and will be mobile throughout the city, including on bike paths, riverbanks and parks.

According to a Winnipeg police news release, the initiative is part of the Cadets' mandate to build positive relationships in the community, deliver a visible presence, and to free-up general patrol officers to focus on other duties.
