Winnipeg teacher charged with sexual exploitation
A teacher at Fort Richmond Collegiate in Winnipeg has been charged with sexual exploitation of a former student.
Laurence Lussier, superintendant with Pembina Trails School Division, said Regan Moses is a social studies teacher at the school but she has been off work since being charged in early January.
Students are taking the news very hard, Lussier said.
"I think students are quite upset because she was so involved in helping them through her social studies work to initiate social action."
It has also been hard on staff, including Lussier.
"I'm sad that a teacher has been accused of such a crime because, of course, teachers are in a position of trust," he said.
Lussier noted the charges, which involve a male student who went to the school between 2006 and 2008, have not been proven in court.
Moses' first court date is March 5.
