Winnipeg suspends fogging due to low trap counts
Mosquito fogging halted due to low trap counts across Winnipeg
The City of Winnipeg has decided to cancel mosquito fogging scheduled for Sunday night after trap counts showed mosquito numbers are down.
Saturday night, city crews weren’t able to fog areas 43, 44, 45, 47, 48, 49, 50 and 51 in northwest Winnipeg due to cool temperatures overnight.
Now, the city has nixed plans to fog those areas Sunday night instead due to low trap counts.
Trap counts are well below 100 in all of the city’s quadrants, and the average city-wide trap count was nine, according to city officials.
Fogging will resume when trap counts are “in the range” of 100 in one or more quadrants, officials said.
