Winnipeg’s residential streets to see plows on Sunday

Avoiding a parking ticket on Winnipeg streets is about to get much more complicated – again.

Parking ban, residential street plowing planned for weekend after Friday snowfall

Residential streets in Winnipeg will be plowed starting on Sunday night after Friday's expected snowfall.

That means a residential parking ban will be in place, so avoiding a parking ticket on Winnipeg streets is about to get much more complicated – again.

The City of Winnipeg has announced it is reinstating a declared snow route parking ban, in addition to the annual parking ban already in place.

The declared ban means cars can’t park in snow routes between 12 a.m. to 7 a.m.

The residential ban means cars can’t park at all during 12-hour stretches in particular zones.

The ban is to allow for crews to clean up streets after an expected snowfall on Friday.

City officials anticipate it will last until Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Motorists can figure out what zone they’re in by calling 311 or visiting the city’s Know Your Zone website.
