Winnipeg recreation spaces to get facelifts
City, province put up $7.6M for second phase of community improvement project
Winnipeggers can expect to see a number of improvements to their neighbourhood recreation options in the coming months.
The city and province have put up $7.6 million to improve recreation areas throughout the city.
The funding will be divided among 34 community projects, including $1.1 million slated for the expansion of the Mayfair Recreation Centre.
Additional projects will be approved in the coming months, according to city officials.
The funding is part of the second phase of the Winnipeg Building Communities Initiative, which is jointly funded by the province and City of Winnipeg.
The first phase of funding saw improvements to athletic fields, playgrounds, splash pads, lighting and community centres.
