Winnipeg protest holds up traffic on Portage Avenue
Protesters calling for inquiry into murdered, missing women took to streets Tuesday
Traffic was backed up Tuesday at rush hour as around 25 protesters calling for a national inquiry into Canada's missing and murdered aboriginal women walked down Portage Avenue near Polo Park.
Winnipeg police diverted westbound traffic on Portage Avenue near the Empress Street underpass at Valour Road late Tuesday afternoon.
The protest ended shortly after 6 p.m., but traffic was still backed up from Empress Street to Maryland Street.
The median lane on Portage Avenue remained open throughout, but police advised drivers to expect delays.
