Winnipeg police are asking for the publics help identifying a suspect they believe robbed four businesses within hours of each other.

Winnipeg police are looking for a suspect in a string of armed robberies that happened within hours of each other Thursday.

Three grocery stores and one hair salon in the same area were robbed by a man with a weapon in the afternoon and early evening, according to police.

The first began at 12:30 p.m. at a hair salon in the 500 block of Bannatyne Avenue. Then, just before 4 p.m., a grocery store a few blocks away on William Avenue was robbed.

Over the next half hour, two more grocery stores nearby were hit. Police said the suspect made off with money and cigarettes during the robberies.

No one was injured, but police are now looking for a man between 35 and 50 years old.

Police say the man has salt and pepper short hair, a moustache and goatee and is between five foot six and five foot eight inches tall.
