Winnipeg police are looking for a man accused of trying to lure a five-year-old boy from Central Park on Sunday.

The boy and his mother were at the park at around 12:30 p.m. when an unknown man tried to lure him away, but a lifeguard intervened and the man left, according to police.

The boy was not injured.

The park is home to a waterpark and splashpad designed for children.

Police say the man is about 25 years old and up to five feet seven tall with a slim build.

He was wearing a red hooded jacket, green shorts and a gold necklace, and he was carrying a green and black Thomas the Tank Engine backpack.
