Winnipeg police officer arrested in domestic assault case

A Winnipeg police officer was taken into custody this week after allegations of domestic abuse.

A Winnipeg police officer was taken into custody this week after allegations of domestic abuse.

RCMP said they were contacted by the spouse of a Winnipeg police officer around midnight on Tuesday.

Officers went to the couple’s home and arrested a 37-year-old police officer.

The man was charged with one count of assault and two counts of uttering threats.

RCMP said the man was off-duty at the time of his arrest, and the victim did not require medical treatment.

The name of the officer is not being released in order to protect the identity of his spouse.
