Winnipeg police sent out their tactical unit to raid a home in the North End on Wednesday and uncovered thousands of dollars of prescription pills and weapons.

Officers recently launched a drug investigation in the northwest corner of Winnipeg, which culminated in a search warrant for a home in the 500 block of Jefferson Avenue.

The tactical unit raided the home, uncovering about $12,000 of OxyContin pills, bear spray, a butterfly knife and about $1,700 in cash.

A 46-year-old man from Winnipeg is now facing multiple charges including possession of a substance for purposes of trafficking and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

The man has been released from police custody on a promise to appear.
