Winnipeg’s mayor thinks the controversy surrounding Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is “weird.”
Reporters asked mayor Sam Katz for reaction to the news that Toronto police had found the alleged Ford crack video.
“That whole scenario was kind of weird, to say the least,” said Katz.
On Thursday, Toronto police Chief Bill Blair revealed his force is in possession of a video that allegedly shows Ford smoking crack cocaine.
Blair also said the video does not contain enough evidence to lay charges against Ford.
Katz said he didn’t have much insight to offer on the situation, but assured reporters he abstained from drugs and alcohol.
“I don’t have any firsthand knowledge. I’ve never met mayor Ford so I really can’t share much with you,” he said. "What I can tell you is that I've never smoked or drank in my life, so there you go."
Ford told reporters he had no plans to resign.
