A Winnipeg man in his 30s has tested positive for West Nile virus, the first case found this year in Manitoba.

Manitoba Health officials said they believe the man was exposed to the virus in Winnipeg during mid-summer.

Another man from the Prairie Mountain Health region has also tested positive for the virus, but Manitoba Health officials he was he was exposed prior to the 2014 season.

Health officials say the current risk for human exposure to West Nile virus is very low.

More information on human cases of West Nile can be found on Manitoba Health’s website.
