A 37-year-old man was shot Thursday night in Winnipeg after yelling at a crowd of people being loud in his alley.

Police said a group of males was causing a disturbance in the 600 block of Magnus Avenue, in the city's North End, at about 8 p.m.

The man came out his back door and yelled at them to take the fight somewhere else.

While he was going back inside and closing the door, he was hit in the upper body by a gunshot, police said.

The suspects ran off and the man was rushed to hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

The investigation is continuing by the Major Crimes Unit.
