Winnipeg man dies in northern Ont. motorcycle crash
A 58-year-old man from Winnipeg died in a motorcycle collision in northern Ontario over the weekend, according to police.
Ontario Provincial Police in Kenora, Ont., said they are investigating the single-vehicle crash that killed Kari Valenius early Saturday morning.
The motorcycle Valenius was driving struck a rock cut on Highway 17, about 30 kilometres west of Kenora, police said Sunday.
"Apparently he was going on a cross-country trip. He was going to meet a friend and they were heading out to the East Coast," Const. Ronni Grosenick told CBC News.
Grosenick did not have many other details about the crash, as she was waiting to hear back from investigators.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday at the hospital in Lake of the Woods.
OPP are also investigating the deaths of two American men after the boat they were in collided with the shore in the Ash Bay area of Lake of the Woods on Saturday evening.
A Kenora man who was also in the boat was taken to hospital, where police said he is in stable condition.
