Winnipeg man, 25, charged in fatal Canada Day stabbing
Suspect charged with 2nd degree murder, attempted murder
A 25-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged with second degree murder after another 25-year-old man was stabbed to death on Canada Day.
Police said the victim has been identified as Tanner Roland Beaulieu, also of Winnipeg.
Another man was also stabbed but no information on his condition was immediately available.
The stabbings took place around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday on Main Street near Broadway, as thousands of people celebrated Canada Day nearby at the Forks.
Police said the two victims, along with two people, were walking in the area when they got into a fight with another group of six people.
The suspect, who was with the second group of people, then allegedly stabbed the victims.
The 25-year-old accused man is also charged with attempting to commit murder.
He is being detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
