A Winnipeg skate maker is crafting custom skates for top-level hockey players, including several members of the Jets.
Scott Van Horne of VH Footwear has made custom-sized, handmade hockey skates for 15 NHL players, nine of whom are with the Jets.
Players from the other teams are also looking at trying out the skates, which are designed and produced in the Manitoba capital.
When asked about his skates' biggest selling points, Van Horne said it's all about the fit and performance.
"Performance, it's in the turns — they say they turn amazing like nothing else. But the biggest thing out of the gate is the fit," he told CBC News on Monday.
A former speedskater, Van Horne made his first pair of speed skates at the age of 15 and has been making them ever since.
After working on ice hockey skates with MLX Skates in the past, he decided to give it another shot a year ago.
VH Footwear's skates have been getting positive reviews from Jets players.
"He does something, you know, pretty cool. He can build in the shot blockers right into the skates," said defenceman Mark Stuart.
"For me, it's the fit. You know, they fit my foot so well," said forward Blake Wheeler.
