The Winnipeg Jets fell to the Minnesota Wild by a score of 2-1 at the Xcel Energy Center in Minneapolis Thursday night.
The Jets now drop to 2-2-0 on the year after starting the regular season with two straight wins.
Winnipeg continues to struggle in the shots category, finishing Thursday's game with a total of 15 pucks on net. Minnesota ended with 30 on goal.
Wild defenceman Jonas Brodin would open the scoring almost eight minutes in to the first frame, redirecting the puck past Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec. The play would be reviewed after suspicion it was scored off the hand, but the call was upheld.
The Jets would even it up with 42 seconds remaining in the first period. Bryan Little converted on a five-on-three power play, beating Wild netminder Josh Harding for his third goal of the season.
The Wild would take a 2-1 lead midway through the second period with Matt Cooke’s second goal of the year, scoring on a rebound that sat underneath Pavelec before finally being pushed past the line.
Pavelec registered 28 saves in the game and defenceman Jacob Trouba led the Jets with 25:27 of ice time.
