The Winnipeg Jets scored two goals in the third period to defeat the Detroit Red Wings 4-2 at the MTS Centre on Monday night.

Goals from Matt Halischuk and captain Andrew Ladd, about 6½ minutes apart, propelled the Jets to victory and snapped a three-game losing streak dating back to a 2-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Oct. 26.

The win improves the Jets to 6-8-2 on the year, while the loss drops the Red Wings to 9-5-2, snapping their three-game win streak.

Monday night's game got off to a rough start as Red Wings forward — and former Brandon Wheat King — Jordin Tootoo dropped the gloves with Jets tough guy Chris Thorburn.

The Jets opened the scoring with Bryan Little’s eighth of the season. Red Wings defenceman Kyle Quincy lost his footing, leaving Little all alone with the puck from the Jets' own blue line.

Little would move the puck down the ice, beating Wings net minder Jimmy Howard with less than a minute remaining in the first period.

The Red Wings would answer back, tying things up with seven minutes to go in the second period, capitalizing on some of the Jets’ misfortune.

Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg would score his eighth goal of the year, putting the puck towards the net and off the skate of Grant Clitsome and past Jets goalie Al Montoya to make it 1-1.

Detroit would add to its lead midway through the period with a short-handed goal from Wings defenceman Danny DeKeyser.

But that lead would be short-lived as the Jets would regroup, tying things up with less than three minutes to go in the second period.

Rookie Mark Schefiele gained the zone, feeding the puck to line-mate Michael Frolik, who deposited the puck in the back of the net.

That line would strike again in the third period, only this time it would be Frolik finding Halischuk open in front for his first of the year and a 3-2 lead.

The Jets would put it away midway through the period with Ladd’s fourth of the season, as he would slip a Devin Setoguchi rebound under the pads of Howard.

Montoya, who was given the start over Ondrej Pavelec, finished the game 25 saves for his second win of the year.

The Jets outshot the Wings 47-27 and Dustin Byfuglien led all Jets with 26:41 of ice time.
