Hockey Night in Canada will broadcast the Winnipeg Jets first home game, set for the Thanksgiving weekend.

The Jets launch their inaugural season against the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 9 at MTS Centre.

The Hockey Night in Canada crew will be in the city for all the action and CBC Manitoba will have extensive coverage before and after the game on both radio and television.

The puck drops at 4 p.m. CT.

Jets get big air time

HNIC will get fans primed for the season with two pre-season Saturday night doubleheaders, on Sept. 24 with Toronto at Buffalo and Anaheim at Vancouver, and Oct. 1 with Detroit at Toronto and Edmonton at Vancouver. The re-born Winnipeg Jets will be seen for the first time on Sept. 26 in the Kraft Hockeyville game against Ottawa.

The 59th regular season of HNIC begins Oct. 6 with an Original Six contest between Montreal and Toronto. The network will also carry 29 all-Canadian match-ups as part of its 109-game broadcast schedule, which features a good chunk of Jets games.
