The return of NHL hockey to Winnipeg has been immortalized by a set of new postage stamps.

Canada Post unveiled three commemorative stamps on Thursday to celebrate the rebirth of the Winnipeg Jets franchise this year.

Two of the stamps show the Jets' logos, while the third depicts the team's first goal scored on home ice.

Centre Nik Antropov scored that historic goal during the Jets' home opener against the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 9.

"Our organization is extremely honoured to have our logo and accomplishments literally travel from coast to coast on one of the oldest and most trusted means of communication transport," said Jim Ludlow, president of True North Sports and Entertainment, which owns the Jets team.

Canada Post president Deepak Chopra and Winnipeg Conservative MP Steven Fletcher, the federal minister of state for transport, were present for the stamp unveiling.

The commemorative stamps are currently on sale at Canada Post outlets.
