One person is dead after a fire tore through a two-storey home at the corner of McDermot Avenue and Juno Street, a spokesperson with the City of Winnipeg says.
Fire crews were called to the home at about 7:41 p.m. Friday. The blaze was brought under control quickly once crews arrived, the spokesperson added.
A CBC cameraperson on scene said it appears firefighters carried one child out of the house.
Few other details are available at this time, although investigators aren't treating the death as suspicious at this time.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and a damage estimate hasn't been released.
As of about 9:15 p.m., crews remained on the scene and were inspecting the surrounding area to determine how far the fire spread.
