The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority has a new hospital information app for iPhones, the Manitoba government announced on Monday.

The app is called Connected Care and it's available now, free of charge at Apple's App Store.

Connected Care provides real-time updates on emergency room wait times, a directory of WRHA services, clinic locations and links to government websites such as Manitoba's Family Doctor Finder.

"Being able to find the most appropriate care with a literal touch of a button will be invaluable to Winnipeggers," said Jeanette Edwards, regional director of primary health care and chronic disease with the WRHA.

The WRHA plans to roll out the Connected Care app for Android mobile devices at a later date, a release said.
