A former Winnipeg radio DJ who faces several sex-related charges was once a Scout leader.
Chris Elwick is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and possession of child pornography.
Police say the charges stem from incidents in 2009 and 2010.
Elwick was a Scout leader in Winnipeg from 1999 to 2009.
John Petitti of Scouts Canada said a local volunteer realized Elwick had a connection to the youth group.
"The police did not contact us during the investigation," Petitti said. "We learned about noon on Monday that Mr. Elwick had been arrested, and we immediately contacted the Winnipeg police."

- Scouts Canada didn't report abuse in at least 65 cases
Scouts Canada apologized in 2011 to any former scouts who were sexually abused by its volunteer leaders after a CBC investigation.
Petitti said Scouts Canada will co-operate with police, but has not been asked for any records pertaining to Elwick.
He said Elwick's record was unblemished and he passed all the police checks.
A police spokesperson told CBC News that further charges may be possible.
