Winnipeg distracted driver found guilty of injuring 2 people
A Winnipeg man who injured two people after he drove past a red light, while talking on his cellphone, has been convicted of dangerous driving.
Mahmud Osman Ali, 48, was found guilty by a judge on Tuesday morning of two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, his lawyer confirmed to CBC News.
Ali ran a red traffic light at Portage Avenue and Maryland Street in June 2012.
In the ensuing collision, Ali's van hit two pedestrians, one of whom was seriously injured.
Ali will be sentenced in July.
