Winnipeg fire crews battled a blaze in a two-storey home in Charleswood Sunday.
Crews were called to a home on Matlock Crescent in the afternoon after reports of a fire. About eight pumper trucks arrived to douse the fire, which appears to have gutted the home. All that could be salvaged was a few picture frames that fire crews brought outside.
The family wasn't home at the time, a fire official at the scene said. One pet died; another got out safely.
Traffic was blocked in both directions on the street while crews remained on the scene.
The cause of the fire hasn't been released.
