A Winnipeg police officer shaved his head in solidarity with a four-year-old girl battling cancer.

Const. Gaetan Beauchemin had his wavy hair buzzed on Thursday as Katelyn Cairns, 4, stood at his side at the West District Police Station on Grant Avenue.

Katelyn, the daughter of Beauchemin's previous partner, Travis Cairns, is undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia.

In addition to showing moral support, Beauchemin's head shave raised money for the Canadian Cancer Society’s fight for life campaign.
