Dozens of families got some free clothing at a special event today.
The North End Family Centre hosted the "Great Clothing Giveaway" at St. John's Cathedral. Families were encouraged to take home as many clothes as possible.
The items were donated to the Centre's old Exchange program, which has since been closed down.
Kyle Mason, executive director of the North End Family Centre, said the clothes had been sitting in storage.
"We had all this clothing - bags of clothing - sitting in our basement and there (is) absolutely no point on these clothes sitting in storage," Mason said. "So we had an event called the Great Clothing Giveaway to make sure the community is able to come down, find some nice clothing for themselves and for their families."
The Centre provides services for low-income families and a safe, comfortable place to connect.
It has been running the clothing bank for three years, but staff said there aren't enough volunteers to run it properly.
