Winnipeg police have arrested one person after numerous police cars chased a sport-utility vehicle through part of the city Monday afternoon.
Witnesses told CBC News the chase had moved north from Pembina Highway into the city's west Broadway neighbourhood.
It ended when the SUV crashed into a utility pole at Balmoral Street near St. Mary Avenue.
One person apparently fled on foot. The Winnipeg police canine unit found and arrested a male nearby.
There are no details to date about the chase or who was arrested.
Residents in the Portage Avenue, Balmoral Street and Broadway areas had their power cut off after the SUV crashed into the utility pole.
Manitoba Hydro confirmed that some apartment blocks were affected around 2:30 p.m., but it could not say how many.
A spokesman told CBC News the outage could last into the evening, but crews are busy working to restore power.
