Winnipeg boy, 14, sought in Canada-wide warrant
Winnipeg police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a 14-year-old youth in connection to a shooting back on June 24 in the area of Sherbrook Street and Wolseley Avenue.
Police said shots were fired at a parked vehicle and one of the occupants was hit and seriously injured.
A 17-year-old male made his own way to hospital and police said he is still in critical condition.
Const. Eric Hofley said it's an unusual case.
"Thirteen or 14 years of age, for anybody to be firing at a vehicle with total apparent disregard for the safety or the life of those within, is disturbing," he said. "It's beyond explanation."
Police have obtained a court order allowing them to release the identity of the youth sought in connection to the incident.
They have issued a Canada-wide warrant for Matthew Jonathon McKay for two counts of attempted murder.
He is 5'10", 138 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
Police said McKay has tattoos on his hands that say "B Side" and "BSCF" on his neck and "WB" on his forearm.
They are asking anyone with information to call them at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8377).
