Winnipeg abduction suspect targeted in Mexico
Cody McKay wanted in connection with abduction of Abby and Dominic Maryk
Winnipeg police say a man wanted in the abduction of Abby and Dominic Maryk is likely still in Mexico.
Investigators are still looking for Cody McKay, 23, although It's not clear what McKay's role in the case might be.
He is the nephew of Kevin Maryk, the biological father of Abby, 9, and Dominic, 11.
Police said they will be using Mexican media to get McKay's picture out to the public and they will be targetting the state of Jalisco — the same one where the kids were found inside a fortified residence in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Friday.
Abby and Dominic had been missing since August 2008, when they went on a two-week court-approved vacation with Maryk, but were never returned to their mother, Emily Cablek, who has legal custody.
Over the weekend, they were reunited with Cablek and are back at home in Winnipeg.
Maryk and a friend, Robert Groen, have been arrested and detained in Mexico City.
Winnipeg police are in the process of extraditing the men for prosecution.
A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for McKay but police told CBC News on Tuesday they believe he remains somewhere in Mexico.
