A water main break flooded Bond Street in Transcona Friday afternoon, outside the Pandora Inn.

Traffic was slow but still moving during the afternoon rush hour.

A City of Winnipeg spokesperson said crews have shut off the water main and were trying to locate the leak.

One business has been affected by the shutdown, according to the city.

Across town, another water main break was causing problems for residents on Laxdal Road.

The city confirmed that 16 homes were affected on Laxdal between Brittany Drive and Ridgewood Avenue.

Crews repaired the break, with water restored late in the afternoon.

It was the second water main break on Laxdal Road in two weeks.

The city spokesperson said the pipe at Laxdal is at the end of its service life and is therefore more vulnerable to leaks.

The section of water main on Laxdal between Beiko and Ridgewood avenues has been added to the city's 2014 Water Main Renewal Program.

Meanwhile, the city announced on Friday that Marion Street lane closures will continue until next week after a water main Thursday snarled traffic.

The city said traffic flow has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Marion Street from Holden Street to Turenne Street while crews work.

The city promised an update on lane closures early next week.
