A water main break has forced a private Winnipeg school to close its doors and send hundreds of students home.

Parents of students in St. Maurice School, on south Pembina Highway, are asked to pick up their children.

The break happened early Thursday near Pembina and Chevrier Boulevard.

St. Maurice is the largest Catholic school in Manitoba with an enrolment of nearly 700 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
