Fire crews are trying to put out a fire at a warehouse at 250 Sutherland Avenue, north of the CP rail yards.

Firefighters rushed to the scene just before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to find a warehouse on fire. Fire crews said the fire was inside a wall and has caused substantial damage to the building.

The fire forced police to close Sutherland from King Street to Schultz Street while crews worked to fight the fire.

Ann Scott, who works at Continental Embroidery across the street, said there was a lot of smoke.

"We heard the fire trucks," she said.

"We looked out the window to see what's going on and there was just smoke coming out of one of the windows.

It's hard to see. We could just see smoke and it started getting a little bit black."
