Multiple suspects were taken into custody after a robbery at the Walmart on Empress Street involving a weapon, Winnipeg police said.

Officers were called to the Walmart around 9:30 p.m. on Monday after reports of a robbery involving a weapon.

An employee told CBC that a suspect was trying to run out of the front doors with merchandise when he pulled out what looked like a gun.

Police located the suspects in a vehicle on the corner of Good Street and St. Mary Avenue a short time later.

Police did not say how many people were taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
