Part of the Trans-Canada Highway east of Winnipeg was down to one lane of traffic following a multi-vehicle collision on Friday night.

RCMP say traffic on Highway 1, east of Highway 206 near Deacon's Corner, was reduced to one lane because of the crash, which happened sometime after 7 p.m. CT.

Six vehicles appear to have been involved, but no significant injuries were reported, an RCMP spokesman told CBC News.

Parts of southern Manitoba have been under a freezing rain warning on Friday night, from the southwest corner of the province east to the Interlake region.

Police are warning motorists to drive carefully, as they have been getting a number of calls about collisions and vehicles going into ditches on highways west of Winnipeg.

CBC traffic reporter Trevor Dineen said a number of roads outside of Winnipeg and across southern Manitoba were already very slippery as of late Friday afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to stay just below 0 C on Saturday and Sunday, according to CBC meteorologist John Sauder.
