The Vancouver Canucks' Chris Higgins scored on the Winnipeg Jets to defeat the home team 3-2 in a shootout Wednesday night at the MTS Centre.

The shootout came following an overtime period that ended with both teams tied 2-2.

The Canucks' Alex Burrows tied the game midway through the third period. He was also responsible for tying up the game during the second frame with his first goal of the season, depositing a redirected point shot into an open net.

The Jets' Michael Frolik scored 2:18 into the third to make it 2-1 for the Jets, following a nice cross-ice feed from teammate Olli Jokinen.

Jets captain Andrew Ladd opened up the scoring with an impressive top-corner shot off the bar and in at 3:48 in the second, assisted by Bryan Little.

The Jets had an opportunity to score during the second period thanks to a penalty shot, but Evander Kane missed the net high.
