This long weekend has been long awaited. Can you remember the last time you got a three (or if you’re lucky, four) day break from your post? Well, it’s finally here!

While it won’t exactly be summery outside this weekend -- and by the looks of the forecast it will barely qualify as springy outside -- it will still be a lot nicer than it has been for the past five months.

You can grab something tasty from MAKE on Corydon or try some cardio and yoga outside at Fort Whyte or, if you have kids, hunt for some eggs at Oak Hammock Marsh.

If being inside is more your thing (and I feel you on this, it’s still kind of chilly), there are a few great shows on Friday and Saturday night.

Also, this will be my last five things column until June as I head to Halifax this weekend to do six weeks of reporting. But as soon as I’m back, I’ll have tons of ideas for stuff to do in our amazing river city!

When: Friday, Saturday or Sunday

Where: MAKE at 751 Corydon Ave.

Cost: About $5

If you haven’t hit up this coffee bar yet, go check it out this weekend.

MAKE Coffee and Stuff

Visit MAKE on Corydon Avenue for a dreamy-tasting beverage this weekend! (MAKE Coffee and Stuff)

It’ll be reasonably nice weather, and for a really affordable price you can grab a great latte or espresso from the local business.

The people who work there are really, really friendly, and it’s a nice quiet place to get some creative work done.

They also have very important looking stationery for sale and they feature local artists’ work on the walls.

If you go on Saturday, you’ll want to stick indoors and bring a friend, but Sunday should be a nice day to take a walk down Corydon and get a brief reminder of how great summer can be in Winnipeg.

WHAT: MUSIC – The Saturdudes at Shannon’s Irish Pub

When: Friday, April 18 at 9 p.m.

Where: Shannon’s Irish Pub at 175 Carleton St.

Cost: FREE!

The handsome, charming men behind the partly Saskatchewan based and partly Winnipeg based Saturdudes will be at Shannon’s this weekend.

The indie-rock duo is bringing their Weezer meets Arctic Monkeys sound to the Irish pub Friday night.

And maybe the best part is that there is no cover!

No $3, $5, $10 or even $12 because you forgot to buy a ticket in advance -- you can just stroll right in and order a super cheap drink.

These guys don’t play in Winnipeg often, so grab a group of your least hungover friends and head down for their set.

WHAT: ACTIVITY – Inside Out Yoga at Fort Whyte

When: Saturday, April 19 at 10 a.m.

Where: Fort Whyte Alive at 1961 McCreary Rd.

Cost: $15

This is an amazing way to enjoy the weather this weekend and feel crazy good about yourself at the same time.

Recognize this? Smithfits lands at Union Sound Hall this Saturday. (Tim Hoover)

Almost every Saturday morning in spring and summer, Fort Whyte Alive holds Inside Out Yoga where you do cardio and other stuff outside and then move inside for some chill yoga.

It’s an absolutely beautiful place to go do yoga, and you’ll feel like you’re in one of those commercials where the people win the lottery and do normal things in absurd places.

The air is also super fresh out at the wildlife preserve, so it’s a great place to work out.

And if you have any energy left, you can go for a quick hike and look at the cute bison doing their bison things in their big pen.

WHAT: MUSIC – Smithfits at Union Sound Hall

When: Saturday, April 19 at 10 p.m.

Where: Union Sound Hall at 110 Market Ave.

Cost: $10

If you’re in the mood for some punk, new-wave and Brit-pop head down to Union this weekend for the latest Smithfits show.

DJ Co-Op (the lovely Tim Hoover), Scott Wade and Rob Galston all have sets planned for the dance party.

It’ll be a loud, fun dance party you can wear clothes from the bottom of your hamper too.

But leave the sweaters at home -- the place isn’t super well-ventilated and can get really warm on the dance floor by about 11 p.m.

WHAT: EASTER – GPS egg hunt at Oak Hammock Marsh

When: Friday, Saturday or Sunday

Where: Oak Hammock Marsh at 1 Snow Goose Bay, Stonewall, Man.

Cost: $7 for adult admission

There’s a bunch of cute Easter-themed events planned at Oak Hammock Marsh for full-grown adults and their kidlets.

The centre is hosting a daily Easter egg hunt that involves using GPS systems to track down eggs in the marsh. That whole shebang starts at 2 p.m. each day.

There’s also a bunny bingo game where you can win a chocolate bunny. This is very reminiscent of something that my teachers would come up with in grade school, and I would go absolutely nuts for.

On Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. there is an actual Easter egg hunt for kids where they can comb the marsh and then exchange plastic eggs for an Easter treat.

There’s also an Easter brunch planned for Sunday morning and afternoon if you get peckish.
