Tom Green lands in Winnipeg for comedy fest this weekend
Comedian Tom Green will host Late Gala at Winnipeg Comedy Festival on April 12
He's been a stand up comic, a rapper, a movie star and a late night TV host.
Tom Green is heading to Winnipeg for the 2014 Winnipeg Comedy Festival to host the Saturday Late Gala called Special Delivery.
"I like Winnipeg. I have a lot of fun when I come up and do shows at Rumor's Comedy Club," he said. "I love coming back and performing in Canada because there's lots of references, being Canadian, that I'm able to connect with on a different level than in other countries, just 'cause I'm Canadian."
The Pembroke, Ont. native has always been a huge fan of talk shows, too, particularly the Late Show with David Letterman, which he actually got to co-host in 2003.
His latest venture is hosting his own weekly late night one-hour talk show Tom Green Live on AXS TV, seen in the United States and selected Canadian cities.
"We get into a real in-depth, intimate discussion about the person's life, their opinions," he explained.
Previously Green hosted an internet show from his house.
"It was fun, but I decided it's time to get the TV show out of the living room. I'm in my 40s now," he quipped.
As for his stand up this Saturday, be prepared for some high-energy laughs.
"If you really want to succeed in comedy you have to do something different. People are going out to see a show and they want to be surprised. That's really where laughter comes from," he said. "We're going to have a bunch of weird comics there, and we're just going to have a crazy, wacky night. It should be great!"
Tom Green will be hosting the Saturday Late Gala, Special Delivery at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival at Pantages Playhouse Theatre on April 12.
