It's looking like a frigid start to the weekend, so you're going to have to bundle up like crazy to survive Festival du Voyageur's kickoff this weekend.

If you want to stay tucked inside until things get a little bit warmer, you can check out a killer lineup of comedy at Club Regent or a packed weekend of theatre from Ayckbournfest.

West Broadway also has a bunch going on this weekend with a pop up dinner from Nick's On Broadway and a dream-pop Valentine's Day show at Handsome Daughter.

Oh and don't forget RAW: almond is still on at The Forks. Go get your brunch on this weekend before the pop-up disappears!

WHAT: COMEDY – My Jokes are Up Here
When: Friday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m.
Where: Club Regent at 1425 Regent Ave. West
Cost: $26 to $37

The My Jokes Are Up Here comedy tour lands in Winnipeg at Club Regent Friday night.

Comedian Christina Walkinshaw

Go see comedian Christina Walkinshaw on the My Jokes Are Up Here tour Friday night in Winnipeg. (Christina Walkinshaw)

It's a bit of a far-flung venue, but it's worth the trek to see Jen Grant, Christina Walkinshaw, Rebecca Kohler and Erica Sigurdson.

One of the only venues that books out of town comics in Winnipeg has a lineup of exclusively men for the next couple months, so it'll be a good chance to see some out of towners with fresh takes.

You might know Grant and Sigurdson from the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and CBC's The Debaters, while Walkinshaw and Kohler are well-known on the Toronto scene.

This one is nearly sold out, though, so you'll want to grab tickets as soon as possible.

WHAT: FEST – Festival du Voyageur
When: Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Where: Fort Gibraltar at 866 St. Joseph St.
Cost: $18 for an adult day pass or $32 for an adult fest pass (less for kids)

By far the biggest (and possibly the best) party this weekend will be at Festival du Voyageur.

Festival du Voyageur

Festival du Voyageur has a great lineup Friday night in La Prairie tent with FINN and Yes We Mystic. (Avery Zingel/CBC)

The snow sculptures, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, music, poutine and more are back for a 47th year on Friday.

My top picks for the fest this weekend are Friday night in La Prairie tent where FINN and Yes We Mystic are playing and Saturday night in the Pembina tent with ATLAAS, Heartbeat City and Adam Hanney.

If you're new to the city or the fest, you do have to have a bit of an appetite for the cold — waiting outside in the cold to get into shows isn't uncommon, but there are lots of opportunities to check stuff out in heated spaces, and if you go early you can avoid the lines.

Dress warm and plan your ride home in advance; these nights wrap up a bit earlier than shows at other indoor venues!

WHAT: FOOD – Nick's On Broadway comfort food pop-up
When: Saturday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m.
Where: Handsome Daughter at 61 Sherbrook St.
Cost: $5 to $18

Nick's On Broadway is doing something a little different Saturday night.

They're moving out of their space on Broadway and into the Handsome Daughter for a pop-up dinner event with comfort food in small plates.

It's going to be absolutely freezing this weekend (or at least colder than we're used to after this balmy winter), so it's perfect timing for comfort food.

I've long been a fan of the chefs from Nick's, and I can't wait to see what they have planned.

It is first come, first served, though, so I would go early to avoid missing the food.

WHAT: THEATRE – Ayckbournfest (Master Playwright Festival)
When: Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Where: Various locations
Cost: $85 for the fest

Ayckbournfest is underway at a ton of different venues right now, celebrating the plays of Alan Ayckbourn.

Every year, the city's Master Playwright Festival chooses a playwright and does an absolutely massive selection of their work.

This weekend, Ernie's Incredible IllucinationsTable MannersA Strange PairHow the Other Half LovesThings We Do For Love and Bedroom Farce are on.

You can catch shows from 1 p.m. till about 8 p.m. on Saturday and a few matinees on Sunday.

Our theatre reviewer Joff Schmidt recommends checking out A Strange Pair — it's a cute musical set of plays at the Echo Theatre in the Dalnavert Museum, which is an unusual venue for theatre.

WHAT: MUSIC – Dream pop Valentine's Day at HD
When: Sunday, Feb. 14 at 9 p.m.
Where: Handsome Daughter at 61 Sherbrook St.
Cost: $10

Handsome Daughter has a great show planned for Valentine's Day.

Basic Nature, Mammoth Graveyard, NOTME and Lev Snowe are all doing sets.

It's all very synth-y indie music and the Handsome Daughter's back stage is a pretty cozy place to check them out.

This one has also been dubbed LOVELESS, so here's hoping you won't have to edge past two many happy couples to enjoy your gloom pop.

Also, I'm sorry about doubling up on the Handsome Daughter recommendations this weekend, but their programming is just too good to miss.
