Two teen girls were rescued by helicopter after going missing during a canoe trip on Elbow Lake.
RCMP were called Wednesday night after the girls, aged 14 and 16, failed to return to their remote campsite northeast of Lac du Bonnet, near the Ontario border.
The girls were last seen by their fellow campers at 4:30 p.m.
Members of the RCMP search and rescue team were brought in, as well as staff from Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship, the Office of the Fire Commissioner, and Casara and Search and Rescue Manitoba.
A helicopter located the girls just after 7 a.m. on Thursday, on a rock ridge within a kilometre of the camp. The girls were rescued by the helicopter and returned to the group.
They were uninjured, RCMP said.
The 14-year-old girl is from Winnipeg. The 16-year-old girl is from East St. Paul.
