Teens in custody after stealing booze with fake gun
Fleeing youths body check a man chasing them
Two 16-year-olds are in custody at the Manitoba Youth Centre after police said they used a toy gun to rob a liquor store.
Police said it started around 11 a.m. Friday at a store in the 900 block of Portage Avenue, when an employee asked two youths heading towards the exit carrying several bottles of liquor whether they were going to pay for the items.
One of the males pulled out a firearm and pointed it at an employee.
Both of the suspects then ran off, and one of them 'body checked' a man trying to stop them.
Police said that person was not injured.
They said when police caught the suspects in the 700 block of Sherburn Street they found the booze and the plastic gun.
The teens are facing a number of robbery and weapons charges, among others.
