A boy who was hit by a car near Grosvenor School in Winnipeg this morning has been upgraded from critical to stable condition.

Police said the call came in just before 9 a.m. Monday.

A witness who called 911 told CBC News that a teenage boy was struck and paramedics were working on him at the scene before he was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The intersection of Grosvenor Avenue and Wilton Street was closed to traffic until shortly after 2 p.m.

Grief counsellors are at Grosvenor School, an elementary school, to speak with any children who may have seen the collision.
